“This year we’re continuing to invest in production, both in the UK and abroad. We recently formed a joint venture with Portuguese textile manufacturer TMG – Acabamentos Texteis SA, which will see Carrington manufacture 18 million metres of fabric per year in Portugal – expanding our current production capacity in Europe to more than 50 million metres.
“In the next two years, we also plan to invest £10 million in a new research and development laboratory, machinery and infrastructure, at our Pincroft production facility in Lancashire.”

“Our energy saving includes the installation of one of industries largest heat recovery systems, recovering waste heat from waste water and atmospheric releases to heat clean process water:
- Delivering an annual saving of natural gas greater than 750,000 cubic metres.
- CO² emissions have been reduced by more than 4,000 tonnes per year.
Water for all wet processes has been reduced to well below industry benchmarks by investing in the best available equipment, the use of greener chemistry and ‘smart’ use of water:
- Effluent production has been reduced by more than 50,000 m³ per year.
By investing in chemical recovery systems, chemical substitution and process optimisation, significant reductions in the use of products has been realised:
- Chemical consumption has been reduced by more than 100,000 tonnes per year.
